The Nissan Qashqai is being developed with the third generation of e-Power hybrid technology. The promise: more autonomy, even lower consumption, less polluting emissions, all in silence. Our test of the new Nissan Qashqai e-Power (2025).
New for the Japanese compact SUV! Launched in 2016 with the Nissan Note and then updated in 2020, Nissan’s exclusive hybrid technology now enters its third generation. The manufacturer does not do things by halves, as it now offers a brand new “5 in 1” engine under the hood.
“With this new generation, we promise a hybridization that is less polluting, less greedy, quieter and even less expensive!”.
And it is clear that our first tests on Catalan roads are very promising. Here’s our full test of the Nissan Qashqai e-Power (2025).
Nissan Qashqai e-Power: 7 differences
As always, we’ll start with a little tour of the owner. And even a quick tour, because this Nissan Qashqai e-Power is perfectly familiar to us. In fact, the technical update does not lead to a real restyling of the exteriorso our compact SUV is almost identical to the one it replaces. So we’ll find it there the same modern and dynamic silhouette perfectly in tune with the times. The Qashqai still benefits from this third-generation e-Power some micro-edits. Small modifications focused mainly on aerodynamics, such as redesigned mirror shells, redesigned deflectors in front of the wheels or a one-piece base under the front bumper.
In terms of appearance, however, we appreciate the arrival 17-inch rims from the entry-level Acenta. In addition, we can find the entire aesthetic language here, from a sharp look to light signatures. Unsurprisingly, the format remains the same. So the Nissan Qashqai still measures 4.42 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width and 1.62 meters in height. The wheelbase of 2.66 meters therefore does not move, allowing the same habitability on board. Finally, our test model in the high Tekna+ trim is equipped with large 20-inch wheels shod with 235/45 Michelin Primacy 4 tires.
Inside: comfort maintained, technology improved
As with the exterior, we move relatively quickly to the interior. Since then, of course The Nissan Qashqai retains the same interior. Namely, furniture always there too modern and elegant. Our Tekna+ finish benefits from black quilted leather upholstery with Alcantara inserts.
You can also find the material on the dashboard and door panels for high level perceived quality at the top. It is in the lower part that the hard plastics remain, but they remain indented numerous elements in Alcantara (door armrest, center armrest).
The seats offer excellent comfort both in terms of seating and support (side, thigh), front and back. If the color palette remains in the rather dark “sports” universe, the sense of space on board remains most satisfactory. As is often the case, only the middle passenger will have to deal with reduced comfort. This is due to the armrest in the backrest and the rather prominent central tunnel of our Nissan Qashqai e-Power.
past comfort major developments in technologyespecially on 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Really, Assisted driving Nissan Propilot gets additional functionsand the panel no longer displays 1, but up to 3 channels. The system also differentiates between trucks and two-wheelerswhich maximizes trust (we know the car sees the same thing as us!).
To this is added a improved speed adaptation behavior when reading tags. The compact SUV behaves more naturally in anticipation rather than waiting to arrive at sign height and then initiating a change of pace. For example, when approaching a city entrance sign, we are already going 50 km/h instead of coming faster and then slowing down. These two evolutions of the Nissan Propilot are as effective as they are welcome.
Performance: more powerful, quieter, more “EV”
Let’s finally get to the heart of the matter: the new e-Power engine. The third generation of this hybrid technology from Nissan brings its share of new featuresin favor of performance and driving experience. Under the hood of the compact SUV, it welcomes a new “5 in 1” drive unit that combines an electric motor, generator, converter, reduction gear and multiplier. What to do with it more compact and lighter packagingstill around the 1.5 turbo 3 cylinder engine. specifically, yield increases from 39 to 42%, power will increase from 190 to 205 hpand torque reaches 330 Nm in Sport mode. Main objective: get even closer to the joy of driving an electric car. Note that the thermal engine never directly drives the wheels and that it only drives the electric motor as well as the 2.1 kWh battery.
in practice we can only praise the performance of this Nissan Qashqai e-Power (2025).. Since the actuation is entrusted only to the electric machine, The SUV retains all operational fluidityboth when starting and while driving. Since then, the manufacturer has even redoubled its efforts in the field of acoustic performance this Qashqai is 5.6 dB quieter than the one it replaces. “In decibels, it’s the difference between dinner at home and dinner in a crowded restaurant,” we’re told. And since we were able to go through the same journey with the “old” model and the new one, one after the other, we confirm: is significantly quieter. The improved insulation is felt in both heat engine operation and rolling noise absorption, even with our large 20-inch wheels. No doubt lower mounts will be even quieter.
Consumption and autonomy: as durable as diesel
The Nissan Qashqai e-Power is therefore more lively, more intelligent and calmer when driving.. All this without forgetting the dynamic properties that are preserved once we set the rhythm. The SUV remains maintained and reassuring even in sharp turns and other turns at high speedwhich makes it fun – with everything – when needed. But beyond performance, special mention for efficiency. If the current Qashqai is already very economical at 5.1L/100km, its replacement now displays… 4.5l/100km ! Remarkable value for this 1,637kg vehicle designed to take the family and their luggage (for a 455 to 1,621 liter boot).
More specifically, as tank with a volume of 55 litersthe new Qashqai appears urban autonomy 1200 km (WLTP cycle) a realistic range of 1,000 km on the highway. It is worthy of a proper diesel, in complete sobriety. On some very quiet city routes, we even dropped to 4L/100km. Our consumption of 5.7 l/100 km when pedaling (Sport mode, highway, gradient) even allows us to travel more than 960 km without forcing. The only thing that would be missing would be mode B with a slightly more pronounced energy recovery, and we’re still talking.
Nissan Qashqai e-Power: from €37,600
In order not to spoil anything, prices are falling at the Japanese manufacturer. Nissan Qashqai e-Power in entry-level Acenta design starts at €37,600thus €2,000 cheaper than the current model with the same finish. A more attractive price, but accompanied by a smarter, more efficient and less polluting compact SUV (102 g/km compared to 116 before). The icing on the cake Nissan announces longer maintenance intervals with oil changes every 20,000 km versus 15,000 kmthanks to the use of engine oil class 0w40. So many developments and improvements taking place within the same successful package, which should continue the success of the e-Power hybrid, whose sales represent at least 90% for the Qashqai in the French market.
